The independent shops across Maldon participating in Fiver Fest so far have been revealed, and more are being urged to sign up by organisers.

Maldon businesses will be offering shoppers exclusive £5 bargains during the campaign, which will take place over two weeks from Saturday 9 October to Saturday 23 October.

Willow & Fox, Chic Petit, Maldon Books, Cal & Co, Alicia's Aesthetics, Dawn Interiors, Phoenix, Spectrum Merchandising, Heart of Craft, Serendipity Gift and Tea Shop, The Waffle Bar, LunaBlue Interiors, SILO Zero Waste Refillery, Mrs Salisbury's Famous Tea Rooms and Ruby & Rose are all set to take part.

Allison Gray, one of the campaign's organisers and owner of Willow & Fox, said she is encouraging more businesses to sign up and take advantage of the event.

She said: "It's about shopping local, not online."

She added: "With High Street businesses still struggling after the long period of lockdown, we hope that this will get locals back through our doors to showcase what we have to offer."

Fiver Fest aims to highlight the importance of the High Street and allow residents to support local independents while saving money.

It is run by Totally Locally, a grassroots High Street movement which has been supporting independent businesses and encouraging people to shop locally since 2010.

Its return to Maldon follows the success of the campaign last October and, more recently, in June.

Businesses can sign up for free.

The Keep it Local campaign is being launched through Maldon District Council's Sense of Place initiative, with funding from the Magnox Decommissioning Fund.
