The Maldon Society has been very busy over the last couple of years, keeping members up to date with local information, installing a new blue plaque, refurbishing the town sign and scrutinising planning applications.

Society member Dorreen Linton says: "The society's new touch screen has created the opportunity to redesign pictorial archives, we have joined in the town's annual events with displays and we are supporting the Maeldune Heritage Centre as members of the Maldon Heritage Working Group. There is also a team of non-committee members who are managing our oral history archives and website.

"However, we are only a small committee and we realise that we need more support to keep up this essential work for the town.

"As members you know much more than the general public about our activities and we would welcome your involvement.

"If you are interested in helping us, there is an opportunity to come along to any of our committee meetings prior to our AGM at the beginning of May. You can see and hear the programme of business discussed and learn about the 'behind the scenes' work of your committee.

"We meet on the third Thursday in the month except August and December for a couple of hours late afternoon at a local venue.

"The most important attribute is that you are willing to give back some of your time to an organisation which has been an important part of Maldon's town scene since 1957. Our contact address is [email protected] or please talk to us to find out more.
