A talk exploring 100 years of motor racing in Essex is set to come to Maldon in March.

Local historian and author John Frankland will speak about venues used in motorsport across the county during the Maldon Society's open meeting on Thursday, 3 March.

A spokesperson for the Maldon Society said: "John is a founder member of the South Woodham Ferrers local history society.

"He originated the South Woodham Ferrers local history society's award-winning audio-visual presentation on the history of the town and has masterminded several local exhibitions.

"John is also passionate about motor sport, although he does not actively participate."

The talk will be held in the Cygnet Room behind the Swan Hotel on Maldon High Street.

Doors will open at 6.30pm and the meeting will start at 7pm.

Entry is free for members while visitors are requested to give a donation.

There will also be a raffle.

You can register to attend the talk by emailing [email protected] or calling Dorreen on 01621 853428.

The Maldon Society's membership form can also be found on its website here.
