Maldon sports facilities handed six grand of government support

Local sports clubs have been handed over £6,000 as part of the government's multi-sport grassroots facilities programme.
Sir John Whittingdale, MP for Maldon, said: "I am pleased to learn that three sports clubs in the Maldon area are set to benefit from funding.
"The programme is investing £125 million across the UK this financial year to improve essential sports facilities, ensuring communities have access to high-quality pitches and supporting increased participation among under-represented groups."
The funding allocations in the Maldon constituency include:
- Maldon Saints YFC at Promenade Park: also a project focused on goalposts improvements, has a total cost of £7,800 and has received a grant award of £2,340.
- Southminster United FC at King George V Playing Field: project set to upgrade floodlights, totals £4,980 in cost and is receiving a grant award of £3,730.
The programme builds on the previous Government's aims to make facility improvements that support local sports by focusing on areas in need.
In Maldon, several local projects have received grant awards to upgrade infrastructure and enhance sporting opportunities.
