Essex Police arrested a man in Maldon when he was spotted "acting suspiciously", later charging him for possession of a counterfeit driving licence and other offences.

Officers on patrol last night (April 17) stopped a man who they had reason to believe was "concerned in the supply of drugs".

He is also charged with other offences, including driving without a valid licence and driving with no insurance.

Yesterday, a spokesperson for Essex Police said: "An individual in a vehicle was seen acting suspiciously by one of our observant officers.

"The individual was stopped and, due to the circumstances, officers had reason to suspect the individual was concerned in the supply of drugs and also suspected they were in possession of a fake driving licence."

The man has since been formally charged and will remain in custody until his case can be heard by a Magistrate tomorrow morning.
