Maldon & Tiptree FC has shared photos of children in the Ashanti region of Ghana wearing football kit recently donated to them by the club's Youth Team.

The kit was donated via the charity KitAid, which recycles previously worn football kit and distributes it to underprivileged children and adults in some of the world's poorest countries.

Roy Warner, Chairman of Maldon & Tiptree Youth Football Club, said: "As a club, we were conscious of the waste generated as we replaced team kit as players outgrew it.

"We were extremely happy to be able to donate it to KitAid, who were able to find a new team in Ghana to reuse it.

"We hope that they will enjoy their football as much as our own teams."

Since 1998, nearly 900,000 items of clothing have been donated. So far, 71,455 items have been donated this year.

Meanwhile, Maldon & Tiptree FC will face Bury St Edmunds in an away league game this Saturday (October 29).
