Maldon town centre will hold first festive late shopping evening today: find out where will be open here

THURSDAYS will see late-evening shopping opportunities in Maldon town centre in the run-up to Christmas – and here we have a list of some of the shops and businesses taking part.

There will be free parking in town centre car parks each Thursday from 2pm, provided by Maldon District Council to help support a safe return to the High Street following the lifting of the second national lockdown.

The town will provide a safe and magical setting for a spot of festive shopping with the lights up and seasonal decorations all ready to go. A quick walk along the High Street yesterday evening revealed some shop owners adding those last-minute touches to window displays.

Allison Gray, chair of Maldon Business Board and owner of Willow and Fox in Quest Place, said: "I speak on behalf of all the independent businesses who are opening late every Thursday until Christmas when I say we are excited to see the public.

"We have put safety measures in place to protect our staff and customers and are looking forward to getting into the Christmas spirit and returning to some kind of normality.

"This would ordinarily be our busiest month of the year and whilst we have to be mindful of the virus we also want to make this a Maldon Christmas to remember for the right reasons.

"Could I even be bold enough to say, if everyone shopped local we could make this our best Christmas yet? Maybe wishful thinking but we need some optimism and hope. Maldon Independent Businesses would like to wish you a safe and Merry Christmas."

Shops and businesses that have confirmed they will remain open through until 7pm on Thursday this week (3 December) include (there may be more):
