The Maldon Town Mayor managed to get in a good round - of fundraising - at a charity golf day in aid of his chosen charities yesterday (Monday, 5 July).

The event at Maldon Golf Club in Langford was put on to raise cash for the two charities Mayor, Councillor David Ogg has selected for support during his year of office.

The Sea-Change Sailing Trust and Churches Together are both local charities and the event raised £545 to be shared between them.

Trophies for the event were provided by Carr Associates Insurance Brokers, a company which is based in Maldon.

David Carr, owner of Carr Associates, said: "It was a good day for everyone who took part. Maybe it could become an annual event in future for every Town Mayor."

-The Sea-Change Sailing Trust offers sailing barge experiences to disabled, disadvantaged and socially excluded young people.

-Churches Together in Maldon became a major partner in the voluntary pandemic response in Maldon district, including the collection and distribution of food parcels, the local helpline and many other activities.
