Maldon will remember
By Nub News Reporter 23rd Oct 2026
Maldon Town Council is inviting residents and visitors to join the annual Remembrance Sunday service on Sunday, 8 November, at 10:50am.
The ceremony will take place at the War Memorial outside All Saints' Church, on Maldon High Street.
The service is organised in partnership with the Maldon & Heybridge Branch of the Royal British Legion, and will be conducted by Rev'd Heather Atkinson of All Saints' Church.
Cllr James Burrell-Cook, Town Mayor said: "Remembrance Sunday is a deeply meaningful occasion for the people of Maldon, bringing our community together to reflect, remember and pay tribute to all those who have served our country.
"It is a time to honour the courage and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, remember the families who stand alongside them, recognise the invaluable contribution of our emergency services, and pay our respects to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our freedoms. We warmly invite residents and visitors to join us as we come together in remembrance."
The event will include a wreath-laying ceremony, the Last Post, the Exhortation and Silence, and the National Anthem, concluding with a march past of local veterans, services, and local cadet groups.

This year the Essex Caledonian Pipe Band will be participating as part of the parade, with the kind support of the Maldon & Heybridge Branch of the Royal British Legion.
Those wishing to lay a wreath are asked to inform the council in advance via email to [email protected] or call 01621 857373 by latest 4pm on Thursday, 6 November.
Those laying a wreath should report to the Royal British Legion's Parade Marshal at the bus stop outside All Saints' Church at 10:30am. The drape of poppies will again be displayed on the Moot Hall.
It was made by more than 60 volunteers, who attached 5,000 poppies, in a design by the very talented Wendy Munnion. A temporary road closure will be in place on High Street from 10am to 12.15pm to accommodate the parade and ceremony.
