Maldon High Street: local independents have produced a lockdown leaflet to be dropped at every home in the town

Maldon High Street's independent shops have got together to produce a leaflet showcasing how the community can 'keep it local' this Christmas.

The leaflet, which will be dropped to every home in Maldon over the coming days, gives a message from local businesses on why shopping locally is important in the build-up to the festive season - and beyond - in this unprecedented year.

The message reads: "We understand that these are tough times for many people, businesses and organisations. Our High Street is no exception to this.

"What would usually be the busiest time in our year is now set to be one of the quietest periods we have ever seen. As proud independent High Street retailers, we have pulled together to organise this leaflet to show that while our doors may be closed, our businesses remain open. (Albeit through other COVID-19 secure means).

"We are asking the people of Maldon to shop local where you feel comfortable, able and safe to do this."

The leaflet gives details of the services and goods available from a number of Maldon High Street's independent businesses during lockdown and has been put together by Maldon Business Board.

More details are available on the Around Maldon website at here. Businesses wanting to appear in a second leaflet have until 6pm on Sunday to register their interest via the website.
