The 2019 Maldon Mud Race fair at Promenade Park: the Prom is the venue for the new Grape and Grain Experience.

PROMENADE Park will be the setting for a new locally-produced wine and beer pop-up event starting tomorrow.

The Grape and Grain Experience is aimed at helping local vineyards and breweries recover from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. It will run from Thursday to Sunday each week from 12 noon until dusk, starting tomorrow (6 August).

The Covid-secure outlet is being organised by local events co-ordinator Eleanor Taylor, who is working in partnership with Events Factor, a Maldon-based company. It is aimed at those who wish to drink responsibly.

As well as supporting local wine and beer producers, snacks made locally will be available and Maldon Salt will be supplying a key ingredient for a Maldon Salt Bloody Mary. The pop-up shop will be staffed by local workers.

Councillor Adrian Fluker, leader of Maldon District Council, said: "We are pleased to be supporting this new initiative in Promenade Park which provides our local beer and wine producers with a new opportunity to sell their products and aid their busines recovery."

Event organiser Eleanor Taylor said: "The local producers are pleased to have been given an additional opportunity in which to sell their locally-produced 'grape and grain' and they have been extremely supportive. We are also pleased that local producer Tiptree is on board and will be selling their gins.

"In addition, we will be selling a Maldon Pimms using fruit from the local greengrocers at The Emporium to further support the High Street."
