The following is the November newsletter for Maldon's Limebrook u3a - if you are considering becoming a member and would like to find out more, details of how to join are included below.

Limebrook u3a is very much looking to the future with all our monthly meetings and interest groups' activities in full swing.

Maldon has so many places to eat and one of our groups, Lunches Around the World, fulfils the ethos of u3a - learn, laugh, live.

Each month, Chris Dove arranges a lunch in a restaurant with a different theme of a country and its cuisine. At the lunch they discuss facts about the country and enjoy good company while catching up with friends.

Five members enjoyed a very tasty meal at the at the El Guaga Mexican restaurant, staying from 12.30pm until 3pm.

They were very well looked after and provided with Mexican hats for their photo call. The Mexican atmosphere was helped as the assistant manager was able to pronounce the Mexican words, and she created a very good atmosphere. The service and food were excellent and I'm sure they will go back again.

John Salisbury organises our Theatre Group and they are going to see Come From Away - a show in London - and still have some tickets avaible for new members.

Beverley Hunt's Cover to Cover book group are reading The Spanish Promise by Karen Swan and have room for two more new members. They meet each month and select a book to read and discuss.

Howard Corlett organises the Ten-pin Bowling Group. The saying "you win some and you lose some" is certainly true about ten-pin bowling - some previous high scorers were not on form this month but that can only be good news for some other players.

Congratulations must go to David Sansom who achieved a personal best score of 188. This seemed to energise Graham Churchill and John Salisbury in the next game but sadly they were still defeated by David.

We have room for new members to join this interest group and welcome beginners, novices, or experts to join the dozen regular players.

Phil Egerton was voted the best photograph this month on the theme "Coast", with Edwina Ord only one vote behind in second place.

On Friday 12 November, at 2pm, we look forward to seeing Helen Chambers with tales of "Tudor Christmas" while dressed in authentic costume.

She will tell us of the customs of the time with anecdotes and facts that will appeal to anyone interested in History and Christmas tales.

Guests are welcome to join us at the West Maldon Community Centre (WMCC).
