The Met Office has issued a weather warning for wind across the Maldon district area from Wednesday (10 March) evening.

The yellow warning indicates that strong and gusty winds are likely to develop on Wednesday evening at around 9pm and continue into Thursday until 3pm.

Gusts of 50 to 55 mph are possible inland, with some heavy and blustery showers also forecast.

There could be gusts possibly reaching 60 to 70 mph on coastal areas and hills, though the very worst winds are more likely to affect areas further to the west of England, before gradually easing on Thursday afternoon.

Problems could include:

-delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely

-some short term loss of power and other services is possible

-some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely

-probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer.
