The Morrisons on Limebrook Way is set to see some major changes after planning permission was granted last week to reinvent the petrol station and car park area of the supermarket.

The changes involve the removal of the car wash and jet wash areas from the petrol station, as well as an extension to the sales building and existing petrol filling stations.

New jet wash bays will be added to Morrisons car park opposite the petrol station, replacing 10 existing car parking spaces.

There will also be a new electric vehicle canopy with six charging bays, which will sit across 16 former parking spaces and the existing trolley bay.

The changes result in the loss of 31 car parking spaces at the supermarket, due to an additional six being used to accommodate a jet wash plant room and LV Substation and Enclosure.

The planning application was approved by Maldon District Council Planning on Thursday, October 10, after being submitted back in June.

In a response to the application, Maldon Town Council recommended approval of the application subject to clarification as to how the water from the jet washes would be disposed of, as well as the if consideration had been given to safe pedestrian routes to the petrol station, shop, and other facilities.
