The Museum of Power is preparing to hold its second Essex Faery Fayre this weekend, with a variety of enchanting entertainment for guests to enjoy.

The best-dressed faery king, queen, prince, princess and royal pet will be crowned by organisers on the day, at around 5.15pm.

There will be fairy-themed stalls, arts and crafts, competitions, storytelling, wand-making workshops, a mystical labyrinth and hoola hoop sessions for residents to enjoy.

June Waller, a body painter from Enchanted Faces, will be in attendance with her magical paint brush to help everyone get involved with the faery theme.

There will be a procession leading to the museum's magical model village at the end of the day, with more than 400 candlelit lanterns that will illuminate the village alongside its faeries and elves.

A spokesperson for the event said: "We will also give a prize to the best-dressed modern character, be it from a Disney film or another story - a mermaid, unicorn, faery, pixie, wicked witch, goblin, troll or elf from a variety of stories.

"The choice is endless, so get your dressing-up thinking caps on - adults too."

Saturday will see the return of the Essex Faery Fayre after it was held for the first time in 2019, when it was a hit with residents.

It was cancelled last year due to Covid-19 restrictions.

This weekend's event, on Saturday 25 September, will run from 12pm to 6pm.

Guests pay on the door - adult tickets £6 each, concessions are priced at £5, children aged 5 to 15 cost £3 and entry for children under 5 is free.
