A SALE of plants, cakes, books and bric-a-brac on a Maldon street's community garden corner raised £320 for Farleigh Hospice.

The charity fundraiser was held in Browning Road last week as part of the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) Community Garden Scheme and was organised by Sue Thomson, of the local society.

It was a joint effort by the volunteer gardeners, friends and family.

A spokesperson for the local group said: "Many people both young and old came to chat and socialize with neighbours and enjoy the colourful garden, which was created from a piece of wasteland."
