A new Indian restaurant has officially opened on Maldon High Street, and is dedicated to providing a fine-dining experience for its guests.
Chutney House, owned by Nazma Begum and her husband Istiaque Ahmed Razib, opened to customers last month with an unofficial grand opening on Wednesday 8 September.
Councillor David Ogg, the town mayor, has now cut the ribbon to officially open the restaurant, which can be found at 116 High Street.
The official opening, on Wednesday evening (27 October), was also attended by Sharon Ogg, Councillor Ogg's wife, and Councillor Michael Pearlman.
The fine-dining restaurant is already popular among Maldon residents and even visitors from different countries - one customer, Nazma said, travelled from France to dine at the venue.
Nazma added: "We had a couple from Brighton who gave us wonderful feedback.
"The amount of positive feedback we've already had from everybody who has come here has been mind blowing.
"Everyone has been so welcoming to us - they have been great."
The restaurant includes a front parlour, drawing room, asylum, great eating room and garden, all in a 18th and 20th-century grandeur style.
It is designed to bring people together for all meeting and gathering needs, including hosting conferences.
It has a premises licence to sell alcohol and play live and recorded music to offer a range of entertainment to guests.
It also offers private parties and is open to the public from 1pm until 10pm each day.
Nazma said: "We're here to provide a full service for the people."
