Police were called at 2.45pm to reports of a collision involving a car and a female pedestrian near the White Horse Inn at the top of Maldon High Street.

Officers closed the high street between Market Hill and Coach Lane while they helped those involved alongside the ambulance service and the pedestrian, who sustained injuries, was taken to hospital.

The road was closed for over an hour before it was reopened by officers at around 4pm.
