A shop on Maldon High Street has reportedly been robbed.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 10.15am this morning (Wednesday, 30 March), after receiving a number of 999 calls reporting a robbery at a shop on the high street.

Officers arrived within minutes, and eyewitnesses reported seeing a police helicopter hovering above the high street.

No injuries have been reported.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We have received a number of calls regarding an incident in Maldon High Street.

"Shortly after 10.15am, it was reported that a burglary was taking place at a shop.

"Officers were at the scene within minutes. Thankfully there are no reports of any injuries.

"This is an ongoing incident, and we will provide an update as soon as we practically can."
