THE Jammers and the Burnham Ramblers have both been awarded Premier League grants to help them adapt to new Covid-safe rules.

Maldon and Tiptree Football Club (The Jammers) has been given £7,000 and Burnham Ramblers Football Club has £2,000 from the Matchday Support Fund.

The fund is being delivered by the Football Stadia Improvement Fund – the grant-giving body that provides Premier League funding to support ground improvements for clubs in the professional, women's and non-league games.

Ron Dangerfield, General Manager at Maldon and Tiptree, welcomed the news.

He said: "It will be used to ensure we meet our Covid-19 responsibilities on match days, with cleaning products, PPE, signage, and barriers."

Describing the grant as "excellent news", Ramblers' chairman Martin Leno said: "It's really helpful with the ground improvements we have to make in the current situation."

Maldon MP John Whittingdale said: "I am delighted that the Premier League is providing financial support to the Jammers and to the Ramblers to help them adapt to the new Covid-safe conditions. It is only right that those clubs at the top who enjoy incomes of millions of pounds help all the other members of the football family get through the challenges created by the pandemic."
