Despite thieves stealing decorations from outside The Queen Victoria, in Spital Road, Maldon, the pub was still able to hold its annual Halloween celebration last Monday (October 31).

Police were called to the pub on Sunday 23 October, following reports of a Halloween decoration display being stolen from the front of the building.

James Burrell-Cook, Landlord at the Queen Victoria, told Nub News: "It is such a shame that the individuals pictured on our CCTV felt the need to steal the decorations.

"We were unable to put out more decorations this year at the front of the pub and those we did had to be taken down each night in case of further theft."

The theft is believed to have occurred around 2am. Three men were seen leaving the scene in a white van.

"This was a mindless act that was so unnecessary."

James continued: "This was a mindless act that was so unnecessary.

"Thankfully, we were able to take some of our decorations off other areas of the pub to replace them.

"We did not let this theft dampen our spirits and were able to continue with our Halloween celebrations that we put on - free - each year, for our community to enjoy.

"This year, we gave any donations given to The Poppy Appeal.

"Lots of Trick-or-Treaters came to experience our scary display."

Essex Police has encouraged members of the public with any relevant information to get in contact with them.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: "You can let us know by submitting a report on our website or by using our online Live Chat service available Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) between 10am-9pm.

"Alternatively, you can call us on 101."

"If you would like to make an anonymous report you can contact independent charity @CrimestoppersUK, by visiting their website or by calling 0800 555 111.

"Please quote incident 42/263067/22 when providing any information to make sure it gets to the right person as quickly as possible."
