A popular military museum in the Maldon district has announced that it is holding special festivities this Christmas to bring extra cheer to residents.

Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome will be offering a festive afternoon tea to visitors in its Mess Café throughout November and December.

A spokesperson for the museum said: "We'd love to see the mess filled with festive cheer, chit chat and people having a lovely time."

Guests can enjoy a festive twist on the café's classic sandwiches, savouries and sweet treats at a cost of £19.50 per person.

The festive afternoon tea will be available every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout November and December, and is also suited for Christmas parties.

A guided tour of the site - on Hackmans Lane in Purleigh, Maldon - is also available at extra cost.

Stow Maries houses Europe's largest collection of Royal Corps World War I buildings which were not adapted for further military use later in its history.

To book the afternoon tea, email [email protected] by the Tuesday before the day of your visit.
