The wishing tree at Tesco Maldon is back to give care home residents across the district the gifts they want this Christmas.

Rhiain Oakley, the community champion at Tesco Maldon, organised the tree last year following the success of an in-store wishing line that had the wishes of local care home residents pinned to it.

The tree has now returned to the store once again, and care home residents have written gifts they would like this year on tags that have been attached to the tree.

Residents are encouraged to visit the tree and take details of any gifts that they wish to purchase, buy the item and return it to the store, in Fullbridge, with the tag ready.

The items can be wrapped or unwrapped, and must be delivered to the store before Saturday, 18 December.

The gifts will then be delivered to residents on Monday, 20 December in time for Christmas.

Homes that took part last year include Hailey House, Swan Care Home, Longfields, Brewster House, Firstlings and Totham Lodge Care Home.
