Census 2021 will take place on Sunday, 21 March - and any Maldon district residents who are worried about completing the forms online can now get help through the process.
The census will open on Monday, 1 March and although the census date is set at 21 March, people will have from 1 March and through April to complete it.
This is the first time the census will be 'digital first' and Maldon District CVS (Community Volunteer Service) director Sarah Troop is encouraging anyone who is in any way concerned about completing the online forms to get in touch and seek support.
Sarah said: " This could be an opportunity for someone who isn't confident with going online yet to find out more about how to and to build their skills so that they can access services available online.
"We have people who have been trained to work with them to help and if lockdown restrictions are lifted enough to allow it, we will be able to invite them safely into a local venue where someone will be able to help them get online to complete the forms.
"But there are a variety of options we have to help and if needed there is a paper option, too."
The census happens every 10 years and taking part is crucial to make sure that areas get the Government funding and support they need for the population they have.
Sarah explains: "At the moment, local charities and bodies seeking funding have to rely on 2011 census data about the Maldon district population and of course those figures and details are all out of date now.
"In order to support the community as fully as we can going forward, we need everyone to take part."
Call to book some support on 01621 851997 from 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday or email: [email protected]
