The newest parish council in the area is looking for someone who will help it move forward in a clear and orderly way once the May local elections are over.

Heybridge Basin Parish Council will have its very first full set of elected members following the Thursday, 6 May ballot - and now the search is on for the right candidate to fill the role of Clerk.

The person in this key role is responsible for all day-to-day organisation and management of the council's services, facilities and finances.

Heybridge Basin Parish Council was formed as a new Parish Council in May 2020 and, because it was not possible to hold elections during the pandemic, the current parish councillors

and clerk were appointed by Maldon District Council.

When the seven elected parish councillors take up their roles, one of their first duties will be to appoint someone to the role of Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer.

The skills needed for the part-time post, which will be for around 32 hours per month, include:

-being enthusiastic, flexible and community-focussed with

excellent leadership, management, administrative, interpersonal, accounting and IT skills in order to work successfully with councillors, external organisations,

stakeholders and the community.

-proficiency in Word, Excel and Zoom

-ideally you should possess the CiLCA qualification (or be prepared to obtain it) and have a sound understanding of local authority organisation and management.

The council meets at least 12 times a year and evening meeting attendance is required.

The salary offered is based on NALC (National Association of Local Councils) pay scales and will depend on experience in the sector.

Anyone interested should email the current clerk - including their CV - at: [email protected]

Interviews will be held after the first meeting of the newly-elected parish council on 19 May, 2021. The closing date for applications is Friday, 14 May, 2021, with an expectation that the new Clerk will be in post by 1 June 2021.
