World-famous family band The Jacksons has been announced as the first headline act to perform at Fantasia in Maldon later this year.

The one-day festival, organised by In the Park Concerts in partnership with Maldon District Council, is set to see thousands of people come to Promenade Park to watch pop acts from the last four decades take the stage.

A spokesperson for In the Park Concerts said: "The Jacksons are coming to Essex for an unmissable concert with a special all greatest hits live concert spanning their whole musical career."

The group consists of original members of the Jackson 5 - Jermaine, Jackie, Tito and Marlon - who sometimes performs as a three when Jermaine, who lives in Bahrain, cannot make it.

The four brothers embarked on their Unity Tour following Michael Jackson's death in 2009, which was The Jacksons' first concert tour in almost three decades.

The band is set to sing The Jacksons' greatest hits at Fantasia, including I Want You Back, ABC, I'll Be There, Blame It on the Boogie, Shake Your Body and Can You Feel It, when the festival returns to Maldon on Saturday, 18 June.

Organisers have said the event will include a "star-studded line-up" with "some of the biggest and most loved pop acts from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s".

Other acts who have been announced for the festival are Matt Cardle, Bjorn Again and Sabrina Washington from Mis-Teeq.

There will also be a fireworks display to round-off the festival.

More headliners are set to be announced soon.
