The Maldon and District Constitutional Club re-opens to reveal a lockdown makeover

Maldon and District Constitutional Club re-opened its doors to reveal fresh new style yesterday (Monday, 17 May) following a lockdown makeover.
The club in Fambridge Road, Maldon, has lost any hint of a dated look, with a refurbishment that has left the interior modern and sleek.
Maldon MP John Whittingdale cut the ribbon to mark the club's re-opening at midday - on the day where pandemic restrictions were lifted to allow a return to indoor hospitality.
Mr Whittingdale said: "I thought I had done well with the work on my kitchen during lockdown, but this is spectacular."
Also present to mark the occasion were Maldon Town Mayor, Councillor David Ogg and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Andrew Lay.
The 'Maldon and District Constitutional Club' first appears in records in 1908 and was located at number 52, High Street.
In the summer of 1966 the club relocated to 40, White Horse Lane, moving again to its current purpose-built premises at 17, Fambridge Road in 1984.
