The Maldon Society will be holding a free heritage talk in March, in which historian Nicholas Wickenden will discuss the history behind local preserve company Wilkin & Sons.

The talk, "Wilkin & Sons - Farm, Factory & Family", will be held in the Cygnet room of The Swan Hotel, High Street Maldon, on Thursday March 7.

Door will open at 6.30pm, with the meeting beginning at 7pm.

The talk by speaker Mr Nicholas Wickendon, will follow the history of the Wilkin family as they began setting up their iconic fruit preserves company.

Wilkin & Sons, founded by Arthur Charles Wilkin in Tiptree in 1885, produces a range of traditional English fruit preserves, as well as spirits, liqueurs, condiments, chutneys, marmalades, jams and more.

The company has held a Royal Warrant as purveyors of Tiptree products for preserves and marmalades since 1911.

The Maldon Society holds monthly talks which are extremely popular, they strongly advise members and members of the public to pre-register for a seat.
