A12: The planned closures will now involve extra days over less weekends

MALDON motorists should be aware that the schedule for planned resurfacing work to the A12 has been changed – with closures extended to Thursdays and Mondays over the coming two weekends.

The plan for the works originally involved closures of the busy route between junctions 19 (Boreham, Chelmsford) and 25 (Marks Tey) at weekends running up to Christmas, but Highways England is now carrying out the essential repairs over two extended periods instead – with the plan to be finished up before lockdown comes to an end.

When the road will now be closed

The new schedule of closures will be as follows:

A12 northbound closures:

• 8pm on Thursday, 12 November until 6am on Tuesday, 17 November

A12 southbound closures:

• 8pm on Thursday, 19 November until 6am on Tuesday, 24 November

Diversion route in place

When northbound carriageway closures take place, traffic will exit the A12 at junction 19 onto the A130; then follow the A130; then take the A120; follow the A120 to re-join the A12 at junction 25.

During the southbound closures, traffic will follow the same diversion route roads.
