Wally’s Pie and Mash opens on Maldon High Street

A new pie, mash and liquor shop celebrates its grand opening today, Thursday May 8.
Wally's Pie and Mash at 121 Maldon High Street will offer traditional East End pie, mash and liquor.
Shop owners Billy Cutting and Dee Sullivan have told Nub News how "excited" they are to open.
"I always wanted to open a shop in Maldon, we have a good customer base here," Billy said.
"The old pie and mash shop shut a couple of years ago so it's about time we opened.
"It's only small at the moment, we have sixteen seats which we think will be enough as we see how it goes.
"The reaction has been brilliant. Fingers crossed it'll all be good and we'll be successful."

Wally's Pie and Mash food trailer was opened last October, following the couple's transition from serving chocolate covered strawberries at festivals.
After successful pop-ups at the Fig and Leaf in Heybridge, The Roundbush in Maldon and The Red Lion in Billericay, the couple decided to look at renting a shop in the area.
"We saw the idea to serve pie and mash online and thought we'd give it a try," Billy added.
"Pie and mash is popular with a lot of east end people, and with Londoners moving out towards Essex now, I think pie and mash is moving with them."

The family-run business will open on Tuesday to Thursday 11am until 5.30pm, remaining open until 6.30pm on Fridays. On Saturday's the shop will open from 11am until 4.30pm.
Good luck guys!
