Here are our top picks for what to do in Maldon in the coming days:

1. Watch live amateur boxing

Welcome fight night back to the Five Lakes Resort in Tolleshunt Knights this Saturday (23 October).

The event is the eighth of its kind to take place at the resort, on Colchester Road, and will be hosted by Core Construction Solution Ltd.

There will be 10 or more boxing bouts to enjoy, starting from around 8.45pm.

VIP dinner tables are sold out, but standing tickets are available at £15 each for adults and £5 each for under 16s.

2. Get spooky with the author of a brand new children's ghost trilogy

Come down to Maldon Books this Saturday (23 October), where organisers will be holding an exciting reading with local author Sam Scott.

Sam will be reading from Sophie Spirit and the Batting Manor Mystery - the first in a brand new children's ghost trilogy.

Join Sophie as she experiences spooky goings-on and seeks to help her new friend Humphrey and his family combat the evil working against them.

The event is free to attend, and Sam's book will be available to buy.

You can find Maldon Books at 23 High Street in Maldon.

3. Catch Stow Maries' living history company onsite for the last time this season

Sunday (24 October) will be your last chance to see Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome's residential living history company - The Nimy Company Living History Group - onsite this season.

The group will be staging a live demo - weather permitting - at 2pm to allow attendees to immerse themselves in the life and times of the British Army between 1914 and 1918.

Come along, say hello, fire as many questions at the company as you want and even try the kit out!

You can find Stow Maries on Hackmans Lane in Purleigh.
