WHAT'S ON IN MALDON: Air display and exhibitions to celebrate Essex history
A museum near Maldon is holding an air display and exhibitions this weekend to celebrate the history and culture of Essex.
Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, on Hackmans Lane, is putting on the 'Time for Essex' event on Sunday 25 July.
The event organisers are inviting visitors to step into the stories and events of the county - from the vikings of the Battle of Maldon, through to the witchfinders of the 17th century and up to the commandos who stormed Europe.
Stow Maries is a historical airfield and military aviation museum. Originally opened in 1916, it was used by the Royal Flying Corps during World War I.
It is the largest-known surviving group of RFC buildings on a WWI aerodrome which was not adapted for further military use. The site is now under Natural England's Higher Level Environmental Stewardship scheme.
Visitors to the event, which starts at 10am, had to book tickets in advance as its capacity is limited to allow for social distancing.
Alongside the airshow, there will be exhibitions, Airmen's Mess Café, a gift shop to explore and a BBQ - all set up in plenty of space to allow visitors to social distance.
Other local museums will also join the event to add their own insight into the history of Essex.
