Thursday 13 July
Steam Tug Brent Art Show at St Mary's Church, Maldon
An exhibition of locally made artworks celebrating the Steam Tug Brent opened on Wednesday (July 12), with pieces by the Maldon Mayor up for auction.
Held at St Mary's Church, the Steam Tug Brent Art Show will see art produced by amateurs and professionals in the Maldon District and further afield. More than 65 pieces have been submitted by a diverse range of entrants.
Opening times for the exhibition can be found below:
- Thursday 13 July: 10.30am until 4.30pm
- Friday 14 July: 12 noon until 4.30pm
- Saturday 15 July: 10.30am until 4.30pm
- Sunday 16 July: 12.30pm until 4.30pm

Festival of Flowers at St Michael's Church, Woodham Walter
The famous flower festival at Woodham Walter's beautiful Elizabethan church returns for 2023 with the theme 'Anything Goes'.
Enjoy stunning flowers around the church, home made cakes and lunches, and live music. Admission is free, donations towards the work and upkeep of the church.
Built in 1563, St Michaels is the sole Elizabethan church in Essex and one of only six built in England during Elizabeth's reign. The church has strong links with the local community and plays an active part in village life.
Opening times for the show can be found below:
- Friday 14 to Saturday 15 July: 10am until 5pm
- Sunday 16 July: 11am until 5pm
- Monday 17 July: 10am until 5pm

Maldon Gig Rowing Club Taster Session at Hythe Quay, Maldon - from 10am
Try your hand at rowing with the Maldon Gig Rowing Club.
The Maldon Gig Rowing Club is holding a taster session, leaving from Maldon's Hythe Quay at 10am, to give newcomers to the sport a chance to experience a trip out on the water. All equipment is provided and the session lasts just over two hours.
Entry is free.
Southminster Flower Show at King George V Memorial Playing Field - from 1pm
Traditional rural show with horticultural, handicraft and floral art sections and a fun dog show.
It will feature a wide range of handicraft and children's classes - please see schedules online and enter in advance. Entries to the dog show can be made on the day. Fun classes include Best Trick, Best Rescue, Best Dressed and Waggiest Tail.
As well as browsing all the wonderful entries on the day, events will also include the Crowning of the Princess, vintage car display, Southminster Primary School Choir, Ferret racing and dancing demonstration.
'Musical MADDSness' showcase at Maldon Town Hall
The Maldon and District Dramatics Society (MADDS) presents the second show of its summer showcase at Maldon Town Hall on July 15.
The show will consist of multiple musical theatre sets, comedy sketches, and lots of singing and dancing.

Burnham Alternative Market at the Village Hall, from 9.30am
Supporting local makers and producers, Burnham Alternative Market is held on the third Sunday of each month at the Village Hall in Burnham on Crouch.
