FREE Rhyme Time Baby & Toddler Session at Maldon Library: Friday 26 August, 11am-12pm

Baby & Toddler Rhymetime is on every Friday from 11am at Maldon Library and on Tuesdays from 2pm at Burnham-On-Crouch Library.

  • Go along for songs, stories and rhymes and the chance to meet other parents and carers in a fun and relaxed environment.
  • It's totally free of charge and there's no need to book.
  • After rhymes and stories, the children can play with our sensory toys.

FREE 'Mamma Mia' Open Air Cinema at King George V Field, Heybridge: Saturday 27 August, from 8pm

An open-air screening of the 2008 musical rom-com, featuring music from ABBA.

  • It will take place at King George V Field, Plantation Hall, and is organised by Heybridge Parish Council
  • Bring your own refreshments, chairs and blankets.
  • Raffle tickets will be on sale for £1 a strip, before the film begins around 8.45pm.

Monthly Farmers Market at The Bell Inn, Tolleshunt Major: Sunday 28 August, from 9am

Homemade, handmade and home-grown produce, with a chance to meet the people behind it.

  • Come along to buy dinner and enjoy breakfast from the BBQ Shack with a hot cup of tea or coffee.
  • Breakfast baps are served from 9am until 11am, and the pub opens from 12 noon.

Bank Holiday at The Carpenters Arms, Maldon: Sunday 28 August, from 12 noon

Join The Carpenters Arms for "a Bank Holiday Sunday to remember", from foodie treats to live music.

  • Fuhr's Foodie BBQ from 2pm. Serving locally sourced meaty classics. From Real Ale-infused pulled pork to smoky Bourbon Brisket Burgers.
  • There are plant-based options included, with flavours "not to be missed!"
  • Live music with Steamhouse from 7pm.
  • Brand new beers on draught and a wide range of punchy ciders to choose from.

Maldon and Tiptree FC vs Heybridge Swifts, Wallace Binder Stadium: Monday 29 August, from 3pm

The two local sides will face-off in the Isthmian League this Bank Holiday Monday.

Last week, the Jammers made it through to the FA Cup with a 2-0 win against Harpenden Town.

Meanwhile, the Swifts gained revenge against their hosts eight years, after getting knocked out of the FA Cup by the then members of the Essex senior league.

August Bank Holiday Market at Promenade Park, Maldon: Monday 29 August, from 9am

Located in the pretty surroundings of Maldon's Promenade Park, the market offers a wide variety of stalls, packed with must-have bargains.

  • The market will takes place from 9am until 4pm, and is a great day out for the whole family.
  • Car parking is available at the Park, with further parking just a short walk away in the town centre car parks.
  • Charges apply in all car parks.

Susie Brown at The Sunny Sailor, Maldon: Monday 29 August, 2pm until 5pm

Susie Brown, from popular acoustic duo 'J.B & Brown', will be performing solo this Bank Holiday Monday.

She will sing soul, disco, country, blues and rock covers with recorded backing music.
