A local woman has been charged as part of an ongoing investigation into an aggravated burglary in Maldon earlier this month.

Mikalea Brunning, 46 of Glenway Close, Maldon has been charged with aggravated burglary, section 18- wounding with intent, possession of a bladed article in a public place and threats to kill.

She has been remanded into custody and will next appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on February 5.

Essex Police launched an investigation after receiving a report of a burglary at an address near Coleridge Road in Maldon.

The victim, who was at home at the time, was assaulted and sustained minor injuries.

A 23-year-old man has also been arrested in connection with this investigation and since released on bail whole enquiries continue.
