Woman in 70s in hospital with serious injuries after being struck by car in Heybridge

A woman in her 70s is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Heybridge yesterday afternoon (Monday, 6 December).

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after officers were called to the collision between a car and the woman on Colchester Road shortly before 5pm yesterday.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "A woman aged in her 70s was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where she remains.

"No arrests have been made and our enquiries continue."

Witnesses said the collision took place at a pedestrian crossing on Colchester Road.

Police officers blocked off the road, which caused traffic to build in the area.

The ambulance service confirmed that it took one person to Broomfield Hospital following the collision.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 4.57pm yesterday with reports of a collision in Colchester Road, Heybridge.

"We sent an ambulance and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.

"One person was taken to Broomfield Hospital by land ambulance for further care."
