A woman was injured at Bicknacre this afternoon after her car was involved in a crash with a tractor.

Firefighters were called to the accident on Main Road, Bicknacre shortly after 2pm.

An Essex Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "On arrival, crews reported that a car and a tractor had collided and a woman was trapped in her car."

The firefighters were able to free the woman shortly after 3pm.

An ambulance service spokesperson added: "An ambulance and rapid response vehicle attended.

"Crews treated a female patient at the scene before transporting her to Broomfield Hospital for further assessment and care."

The road was closed earlier and it was reported that overhead cables were damaged and required repair. There is currently no information from Essex Police as to whether the road has now been opened and this report will be updated as further information comes in.
