The Mayor of Maldon has announced plans for a music event in aid of two charities close to Maldon Town.

The Maldon Town Charity Concert will be held at 7.30pm on Friday, May 9 and will take place at the United Reformed Church, Market Hill, Maldon.

It is raising funds for two local charities with connection to Maldon, Action for Family Carers and Farleigh Hospice.

The Essex-based Electro Jazz Orchestra will take to the stage to treat audience members to an action-packed show.

Formed in 2022, the orchestra aim to bring the "Big Band" into the 21st Century, incorporating ideas normally found in the pop world.

As well as the traditional band with traditional instruments, the band uses tech to provide anything from strings to percussion - and even a lions roar in one arrangement!

This allows the band to manage all sorts of tracks, from all sorts of eras, all whilst maintaining a sound and feel which suits all ages.

Mayor of Maldon Councillor Andrew Lay said " These two charities are very close to the residents of Maldon Town. They are very much appreciated and I look forward to enjoying the performance by this wonderfully talented big band and to raising funds to support these charities.

"If you are not aware of the Electro Jazz Orchestra I urge you to check out their website and YouTube posts"

Tickets are £15.00 and there will be an additional opportunity to purchase refreshments and take part in the raffle. All funds raised will go to the Mayor of Maldon's Charity Fund.

Tickets are available from Maldon Town Council Offices. Tel : 01621 857373 or via email [email protected]
