The charity looking after St Mary's Church in Vicarage Lane, Mundon, received a £40,000 grant from the Government's Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage in October last year.

As we approach the February half term, a time when many of us would usually have been looking forward to a short-break away, the impact on the industry and the economy from the loss of tourism again comes into sharp focus.
Millions of jobs and local economies depend on tourism right across the country and businesses have lost many months of vital trading.
The Covid-19 infection rate for Maldon district is continuing to drop and is now well below national average figures once again.
In the seven days leading up to Sunday, 7 January there was a total of 88 new cases recorded in the Maldon district. This is equal to an infection rate of 135.5 cases per 100,000 population. The full week is allowed for the data to be complete, with the probable return of all test results taken for that period.

Essex Police have this morning (Saturday, 13 February) released an update on how officers are enforcing Covid-19 restrictions across the county.
A police spokesperson said: "The vast majority of you are doing the right thing, but where clear and blatant breaches have taken place our officers have responded to them."

A planning application for extensions to a restaurant that have already been built will go before Maldon district councillors next week – but could be refused because of a proposal for changes to hours and music.
The 'On the Latch' restaurant - formerly Annley House Tea Rooms in Burnham, Road, Latchingdon - has already built single-story extensions and outbuildings without prior permission in place, according to the report on the application by council officers. There appears to be no reason given in the report why these developments should not be given retrospective permission.

Police found 200 plants thought to be cannabis at a Maldon address early today (Friday, 12 February).
Essex Police officers raided an address in Mill Lane, Maldon at around 7.30am after obtaining a warrant.
