A GP surgery in South Woodham Ferrers and another in Witham are among the latest Covid-19 vaccination venues to be added to the ever-growing list in or close to Maldon district.

Crouch Vale Medical Centre in Burnham Road, South Woodham Ferrers, and Fern House Surgery in Witham began offering the jabs yesterday (Friday, 15 January).

Maldon District Council will close the play areas in Promenade Park from Friday, 15 January in a bid to help reduce the transmission of Covid-19.

A spokesperson for Maldon District Council said: We have seen an increase in the numbers of people visiting the park and not following social distancing rules, and evidence of visitors travelling from outside of the district to the Promenade Park which is against the current guidance.

The Environment Agency (EA) has launched a public consultation on the design of the reactor intended for the proposed new nuclear power station at Bradwell.

Running until 4 April, the online exercise is being conducted as part of the EA's Generic Design Assessment (GDA) of the new reactor, the UK HPR1000.

There are reports of some flooding in different areas of the Maldon district this morning (Thursday, 14 January), including at Goldhanger.

It is believed that some roads in the village have been closed due to the hazardous conditions.
