The new interactive resource shows how climate change could impact Maldon district weather

A new online tool launched to show the potential effects of climate change in each area of the country suggests that Maldon could see summer temperatures of 38.4C if global average temperatures rise 2C above pre-industrial levels.

Met Office Hadley Centre scientists have been working with BBC data journalists to develop the new interactive tool to show how climate change might impact local weather in coming decades.

Essex Fire and Rescue Service has issued these tips following county flooding

WITH Essex hit by floods in the past two days the fire service has issued a warning and advice to drivers following the dramatic rescue of a couple from a car stranded in deep water yesterday (Saturday, 5 December).

Firefighters launched a water rescue boat was launched to reach the vehicle in Millers Green Road, Ongar, after they drove into flood water and became trapped at around 10am.

A Christmas advent raffle offering prizes for the days running up to Christmas is a great idea – but the real winners of this local charity event will be young people who have undetected heart conditions.

The Charlotte Adams Memorial Fund was set up by a mum who wants to make sure that her daughter is not forgotten – and at the same time help to make sure that other young people can get the heart screenings that could potentially save them from being taken with sudden cardiac failure. This raffle will help provide community defibrillators, which can increase the chances of survival of a sudden cardiac attack by 90 per cent.

Holloway Road is flooding

Holloway Road residents are fighting to keep flood water from their homes this morning (Friday, 4 December).

People living at the end of the street closes to the Langford roundabout and opposite the new Bellway housing estate woke at around 6.30am to find water gushing from the culvert and ditch.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward after a cyclist who was found with a serious head injury at the roadside in Danbury died.

The 85-year-old man, who lived in Danbury, was found beside his bike with a serious head injury on The Ridge near to the junction with Fir Tree Lane in Danbury at around 3.15pm on Friday, 13 November.

Patients are being asked to "think NHS 111" before turning up at hospital unless immediate treatment is required

Maldon patients are among those across mid Essex who have been asked to call the 111 helpline before heading to A&E – unless there is a need for immediate treatment.

And in a statement issued this afternoon (Thursday, 3 December), the area's patients were told: ""If you arrive at the emergency department without contacting NHS 111 first, you will still be seen, but you may have to wait longer unless you need immediate treatment."
