ANY Maldon resident who has ever thought they could try their hand at being a county councillor may be interested in an online event where they can learn more about the role.

Taking place online, the free event will give prospective candidates the opportunity to find out more about the work county councillors do with their local communities. There will also be a chance to meet current county councillors.

Maldon arrangements in place to mark Remembrance this year

AS there will be no Remembrance Service at the town's war memorial this year due to the second national lockdown, there are a few different ways in which local residents can now pay their respects.

Maldon Town Council and Salvation Army have prepared a Remembrance Service video to be released on Remembrance Sunday (tomorrow, 8 November) at 10.30am. There will be a two minutes' silence at 11am.

The A12: there will be closures in place at weekend until Sunday, December 20

MALDON drivers may want to know that one carriageway of a large section of the A12 will be closed during the daytime this weekend (7 and 8 November) and every Friday, Saturday and Sunday up to Christmas.

The massive resurfacing project will see closures of the busy road from 8am to 6pm between junction 19 near Chelmsford and junction 25, close to Marks Tey, at weekends. The work is scheduled to end on Sunday, 20 December.
