Maldon MP John Whittingdale is backing the request to move Essex to 'High' level restrictions

MALDON MP John Whittingdale has released a statement following news today (Tuesday, 13 October) that Essex County Council has asked for the county to be moved up to Tier 2 'High' level pandemic restrictions.

The county is currently under the lowest Tier 1 'Medium' level of restrictions which includes the 'rule of six' for all gatherings and pubs and restaurants closing at 10pm.

AN application to review the premises licence for a Maldon pub has been dismissed by district councillors.

The Jolly Sailor pub in Church Street will not have any alteration to its licence as a result of a review after Maldon District Council's (MDC) Licensing Sub-Committee decided there was insufficient evidence to substantiate claims that the pub had broken lockdown rules.

Bradwell B: community representatives have taken part in a new forum

The group behind plans for a new nuclear plant at Bradwell-on-Sea has launched a community forum to take questions from those invited to take part.

The first forum on the proposed Bradwell B plant took place on Tuesday (6 October) and included a panel of experts taking questions from selected representatives of local authorities, parish councils, community groups, business groups, regulatory bodies and interest groups. The meeting was chaired by Sandra Fryer, a chartered town planner.
