Operation Fume in Maldon yesterday

FLY tipping in Maldon has been dealt a blow by police and council officers in an operation to stop the rogue practice.

Sixty-eight vehicles were stopped by Essex Police's Rural Engagement Team and Maldon District Council in Operation Fume in the town yesterday (Wednesday, 22 September), with two seized for no insurance, two caught speeding and another two requested to produce a waste transfer certificate.

Essex Police arrested the teenager who drove dangerously to try to get away

A MALDON teenager has been given a three-year driving ban after overtaking cars at 60mph in a police chase through Basildon and Wickford.

The 17-year-old boy, who comes from Maldon district but cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced at Colchester Magistrates' Court yesterday (Monday 21 September) for dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving while disqualified and failing to stop when directed.

HEALTH chiefs are asking Maldon residents to join an Annual General Meeting (AGM) next Tuesday (29 September).

The Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) – which commissions most local NHS services, including GPs, hospital care and mental health and learning disability services for Maldon – is throwing the virtual meeting open to the public. It will take place from 6pm to 7pm.

Figures updated this afternoon (Monday, 21 September) on Essex Counnty Council's Covid tracker tool record the new cases, which mean the current infection rate for the district has moved up to the equivalent of 7.7 cases per 100,000 population.
