Hythe Quay could become the subject of a Public Space Protection Order to prevent drug and alcohol misuse there

CRIME in Maldon dropped by 2.1 per cent in the 12 months to the end of September – but anti-social behaviour was up by 15.7 per cent, a report to councillors has revealed.

Reports of anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping to Maldon police and the district council increased during lockdown, as did the need for support for domestic abuse victims. This support was largely provided by Essex Compass, a consortium of the county's domestic abuse services and groups.

A road policing survey highlighted by Maldon Nub News in September has found that Essex residents want more enforcement of traffic offences and tougher penalties for those who speed or refuse to wear a seat belt.

The online survey will now help Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, Roger Hirst, give feedback for the Department of Transport's 'Call for Evidence' which is looking at how enforcement can be enhanced.

THE library and tower at one of Maldon town centre's most familiar buildings has been placed on Historic England's 'Heritage at Risk' register.

News was released yesterday (15 October) that the Plume Library building, including the tower of the former Church of St Peter, situated on the corner of the High Street and Market Hill, has been added to the East of England list.
