The East of England will be short of water by up to 1.6billion litres per day by the 2050s, a new report has warned.

A report submitted by Water Resource East shows that by the 2050s the additional water requirement for the East of England will be somewhere between 531 and 1,656 megalitres per day.

A SHORTLIST of Maldon district people nominated by the community for what they did to help others in lockdown has been released.

The nominations revealed this afternoon (Monday, 23 November) are for the Maldon District Recognition of Service Awards and showcase amazing work to help and support others through the 2020 crisis in 10 different categories as follows:

AN air ambulance crew treated a patient before they were taken to hospital following a rescue from a road accident in Maldon this afternoon (Monday, 23 November).

The crash on Heybridge Approach, close to the Langford roundabout, resulted in a car ending up in the large ditch to the side of the carriageway going towards the Blackwater Retail Park. The car was in collision with another vehicle before leaving the road.

AN air ambulance is on the scene of a serious road traffic accident on Heybridge Approach, Maldon, this afternoon (Monday, 23 November).

Police, land ambulances and fire engines are on scene at the crash.

Parents in the area are receiving a helping hand on how to ensure their baby sleeps safely with the launch of a new campaign.

Local CCGs (Clinical Commissioning Groups) in mid and south Essex have launched the campaign to provide parents and parent-to-be with the latest advice on providing a safe sleeping environment for their baby.

MALDON is waiting to hear what pandemic restrictions are likely to look like for the district after national lockdown ends on 2 December.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to reveal to the nation this afternoon (Monday, 23 November) what the new 'tiered' system of restrictions for different areas of the country will involve.

Maldon police are appealing for information after the crew of a Virgin Atlantic jet reported that a laser was shone at the plane.

The mammoth task of listing the diverse range of assets will be taken on parish by parish to produce a list that is then put out for public consultation. The focus will be only on assets which do not already have national graded listed status.

Maldon High Street's independent shops have got together to produce a leaflet showcasing how the community can 'keep it local' this Christmas.

The leaflet, which will be dropped to every home in Maldon over the coming days, gives a message from local businesses on why shopping locally is important in the build-up to the festive season - and beyond - in this unprecedented year.
