MALDON residents have just one week left to make comments on the future of policing on the county's roads in an online survey.

The Government is currently reviewing roads policing and what the future of traffic law enforcement may look like. As part of this review, the Department for Transport is trying to find out what makes a difference and how resources can be used most effectively.

Essex Police arrested the teenager who drove dangerously to try to get away

A MALDON teenager has been given a three-year driving ban after overtaking cars at 60mph in a police chase through Basildon and Wickford.

The 17-year-old boy, who comes from Maldon district but cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced at Colchester Magistrates' Court yesterday (Monday 21 September) for dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving while disqualified and failing to stop when directed.

HEALTH chiefs are asking Maldon residents to join an Annual General Meeting (AGM) next Tuesday (29 September).

The Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) – which commissions most local NHS services, including GPs, hospital care and mental health and learning disability services for Maldon – is throwing the virtual meeting open to the public. It will take place from 6pm to 7pm.

THE number of new Covid-19 infections in the Maldon district has risen to five in the last seven days.

Figures updated this afternoon (Monday, 21 September) on Essex Counnty Council's Covid tracker tool record the new cases, which mean the current infection rate for the district has moved up to the equivalent of 7.7 cases per 100,000 population.

The Jolly Sailor in Church Street, Maldon

A MALDON pub facing a review of its licence is alleged to have brought large gatherings and anti-social behaviour to the area during lockdown.

The application to review the licence of The Jolly Sailor pub in Church Street has been made by Maldon District Council's (MDC's) Environmental Health Department and will be heard by MDC's Licensing Sub Committee on Monday, 28 September. The licensees are Alan and Kerry Brett.
