'ENRY's gone: Maldon High Street car park road writing now reads right

A mis-spelled piece of road writing in a Maldon High Street car park that caused hilarity with local people has been put right today (Friday, 26 February).

Residents quickly spotted that 'NO ENRY' had been written on the road on the entrance to the Bright's Close car park, off the High Street, yesterday.

In a Twitter post Maldon District Council was soon on the case, with a post reading: "If you're having a bad day... just know that someone else is having a worse day than you! We're on'T To iT!"

And sure enough, the contractor who dropped their 'T' was back on the case today - and, if a little smudged, the message now reads correctly.

One resident looking at the new paintwork remarked: "Maybe they should have left it like it was - it brought everyone a bit of cheer!"
