BREAKING NEWS: Shock resignation of former Maldon District Council leader

Former Maldon District Council leader Elaine Bamford has quit her role as a councillor.

The shock resignation of the leader of the Conservative group at the council, who was replaced in the council leader role on Thursday, 5 November, when Independent Councillor Wendy Stamp was voted in, was announced today (Friday, 13 November).

Cllr Stamp said: "I am saddened to hear the news that the Leader of the Opposition, Elaine Bamford, has resigned as a District Councillor for personal reasons.

"On behalf of the council, I would like to thank Elaine for her hard work and commitment to the council and the ward of Tollesbury East."
