Jeremy Bamber loses bid to have his maximum security status downgraded
CONVICTED murderer Jeremy Bamber has lost his fight to have his prison status downgraded from maximum Category A.
The infamous killer was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his adoptive mother and father, sister and her twin sons, aged just six at the time of the killings in 1985. The five family members were shot dead at White House Farm in Tolleshunt D'Arcy, home of the adoptive parents, Nevill and June Bamber.
Bamber has always protested his innocence, asserting that the killings had been carried out by his adoptive sister, former model Sheila Caffell, 26, before turning the gun on herself. Bamber was 24 when he carried out the murders.
The case was the subject of a TV drama in January and February this year, called 'White House Farm' and screened on ITV.
The latest developments come after Bamber's appeal to have his prison status downgraded was refused on 12 October – a decision that was confirmed today (Friday, 30 October) at London's High Court by Mr Justice Julian Knowles.
